Havneguiden 1 describes natural harbours and guest harbours, where each harbour is presented with its own Harbour Guide chart, aerial photo, descriptive text and a fact box with key information.

The text is divided into two parts: The maritime section describes the harbour, the approach and special conditions you should be aware of. You will also learn what type of mooring is relevant, so that you can be prepared upon arrival. The general text describes the distinctive features and history of the place, as well as what you can see, do and experience when you arrive. We have also tried to point out things you may wonder about and perhaps explore further on your own.

In this edition, all Harbour Guide charts have been revised. The harbours have been re-surveyed using an advanced multibeam echo sounder. Based on the new hydrographic surveys, we have produced new Harbour Guide charts with far more depth details as well as more precise depth contours. As a result, we can now identify many more safe mooring spots in natural harbours. In the same harbours, we have marked places suitable for all types of boats (red line) and places suitable only for motorboats (blue line). In natural harbours, alongside mooring places are marked with a dedicated arrow on land.

The aerial photos with markings give you a quick overview of the harbour’s surroundings, facilities, approach channels, hazards and mooring possibilities. On the pages with a QR code, you have quick access to a drone video of the harbour.

At the back of the book there is a coupon that gives you access to the Harbour Guide app. With the help of the app, you can easily translate the original Norwegian text into your native language.

In the summer of 2026, the Harbour Guide series covers an area stretching from Örnsköldsvik in the Gulf of Bothnia to Kirkenes in the far north-east of Norway. The Harbour Guide series also includes guides covering Denmark, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece.
